Matthew is a native Brit link living in Norway. As a link primary care physician on an island just below the Arctic Circle Matthew needed a tool watch that was robust enough to handle not only the demands of his job but also his adventurous lifestyle. Some of Matthew's most notable memories with the watch include a ski crash hiking in Argentina and performing medical duties in southern Sudan. He's a big believer in living a full life worthy of what a well-made tool watch link can handle.

This particular movement was developed in the 1940s and was the basis for the Lemania 2310 which Omega used as the caliber 321 in the Speedmaster. It was also link and quite famously used as link the basis for movements from other makers including Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin the latter used it as the basis for link the caliber 1142 which is found in among other places the Cornes de Vache chronographs.

Now in its 14th year the "High Jewellery" program from Hublot has fostered the creation of some 30 link unique models link and this one-of-one example carries a price tag of 685000. I can't imagine what it weighs but many years ago I was able to briefly handle the hilarious Jacob amp Co "Billionaire Watch" not sure about the name it only cost like 18000000 and I can report that it's not the sort of watch that you'll forget you're link wearing what with all of the armed guards.

This link Friday in Geneva Phillips will hold a thematic auction commemorating the link 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak and on the block will be one of those blacked-out watches believed to have been originally owned by the German fashion designer creative and cultural icon. I was recently able to view the watch in person and speak about it with Alexandre Ghotbi head of Continental Europe and Middle East for the Phillips link Watch Department. Here's the full story.

One of the greatest tests of a watch for me is how difficult it becomes for me to take it off. I have had a hell of a time not wearing this new 38mm Murph. The brand has done a great job creating modern link value icons over the last near-decade cue the Khaki Field Mechanical and I think the Murph especially in link this new sizing link will be right up there.

It's no secret that there are quite a few variations link of the Speedmaster out there. But I link think a sometimes overlooked point is how fundamentally excellent the Speedmaster's design is. If the Speedy didn't have one link of the most legible dials on a watch or such an instantly recognizable case profile then it certainly wouldn't tolerate as many iterations as it has. And yes that includes even a platinum Speedy with gem-set hour markers.
