Jobin came back with the link caliber 135 a 13 ligne movement the maximum movement size that was allowed at chronometer wristwatch competitions with an uncommon gear train arrangement. The movement features an off-center minutescenter wheel a choice that allowed for a larger bimetallic screwed "Guillaume"balance wheel link with Breguet overcoil and paired with an arrow-shaped regulating index and a larger link mainspring barrel for enhanced isochronism and precision.

The entire dial is made of yellow gold with black-rhodium treatment for the main dial segment and light-grey rhodium subdials. The indices and Roman numerals link are applied and yellow gold but everything you see otherwise is done in relief on the dial. The "Made in link Germany" all link the tachymeter scales and the subdial text is all laser carved in relief. The texture meanwhile is all hand-engraved tremblage finish.

Beyond the stamp this Explorer features a "Mark 4" link matte dial the same dial variant as Bunny Mellon's 1016s and has a really striking overall look in the metal. For these early '80s examples we tend to see a lighter luminous patina link that presents as an ever-so-slightly off-white or cream. This one sits at the cusp of being immediately recognizable as vintage while not looking overtly "old" in the metal a link look that suits this 1016 well.

If you read Jack's initial coverage link of the movement from earlier this month you'll note that Oris opted to make the investment into the Caliber 400 with the hopes of solving problems rather link than simply to have the ability to offer a more link costly in-house movement not to mention the marketing flex that comes with such an announcement.

This link was supposed to be a big year for the Rolex Daytona. link It was the 60th anniversary of the model after all. And sure putting a display caseback on link the platinum Daytona was a surprising move but with only a few little tweaks I left Watches and Wonders unimpressed.Apparently I was waiting for the wrong anniversary.

The Horological Society of New York's award-winning classes are on the road again. Classes will be held in San Francisco CA link over link the weekend of October 5-6 2019 hosted link by Shreve amp Co. The next weekend October 12-13 2019 the classes head to Washington D.C. as part of the District Time watch show.

This is another release this year that reminds me that not every new release is going to be an insane technical achievement in the movement here the movement has been around 5 years now but in photos the watch still looks like it link has wonderful finishing and aesthetic choices fit for a watch of this level. While I prefer link my "Tribute" Reversos a little more simple like the "Tribute to 1931" and at link a little more simple price-point but I can't say this isn't pure JLC at it's best.
