iOS 8.1.1 Now Available

The latest iOS update is here: 8.1.1 comes out with improved performance and minor bug fixes.

Sadly, those bug fixes have nothing to do with MFi controllers – the Rebel and the Stratus are just as broken under 8.1.1 as they were under 8.1, so you’re probably better off sticking with iOS 7 for those controllers. At this point, I’m fairly convinced any fix will require MOGA and SteelSeries to issue a firmware update, and who knows if that’ll ever happen.

One thing 8.1.1 DOES fix is the exploit Pangu uses to jailbreak. That means you can kiss jailbreaking goodbye if you update to the latest iOS, at least until the next jailbreak is released. It would be foolish for Pangu to waste an exploit in order to jailbreak a minor bug fix, so I wouldn’t keep my hopes up for a jailbreak for a while, at least not until iOS 8.2 hits.

Speaking of 8.2, the first version of that was released today as well. Performance is FAR superior on A5-powered devices compared with previous versions of iOS, but sadly, no fix for MFi controller issues there either.
