MOGA World App and Controller Firmware Updates Now Available

Good news for owners of MOGA’s Rebel and Ace Power MFi controllers: the official companion MOGA app is finally available!

The MOGA World app provides a variety of cool features. First, a way to test MOGA controllers, and provides feedback indicating button presses and analog pressure. While we already had the very handy Game Controller Tester for that, it’s nice to have another option. Next, MOGA World includes a list of compatible apps. Unfortunately, their catalog is incomplete, and includes Android games for some reason. I’d still recommend using The AfterPad List, but hey, I admit I’m biased.

Most interesting of all (and the reason this app is absolutely must-download for MOGA controller owners), the app allows you to update the firmware of your controllers. And coinciding with the app’s release, new updates are available for both the MOGA Rebel and MOGA Ace Power controllers. With that said, I haven’t noticed any difference after updating the firmwares – bluetooth disconnects with the Rebel remain, and are almost certainly something only Apple can fix.

Even if this app doesn’t quite fulfill Moga’s apparent goal of being a must-visit destination for MFi controller owners, the firmware updates and button testing alone do make it worth a download. It was promised last year with the MOGA Ace Power, so at the very least, it’s nice to see it finally available.
