New Release: Floppy Cloud (NES / SNES)

The latest in the long line of secret emulators hidden on the App Store

Update

Aaand it’s gone

Floppy Cloud, ostensively an FTP and Dropbox file transfer client, was recently discovered by TouchArcade to include a secret NES / Super Nintendo emulator with full MFi controller support. It joins August’s Lawnmower Retro Arcade in the world of hidden Nintendo emulators on the App Store.

Honestly, Floppy Cloud is pretty lame, as far as emulators go. You get dropbox file sharing and MFi controller support, which is good, but you also get iAds in addition to an upfront cost. No form of “Open In” support is include for web download of games, meaning you’ll have to copy your games to this app via Dropbox or file manager. Customization options are minimal, and the app isn’t optimized for the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

If you’re really committed to emulators on iOS, you should jailbreak and install RetroArch. Floppy Cloud is better than nothing I suppose, but I think you’re better off saving your money until Apple releases a version of iOS that can’t be jailbroken.
