Swiss brands have pioneered this marketing strategy since the beginning, choosing not only popular faces to showcase their latest and greatest products, but also the best in their field – not just winners, but champions and record breakers – to enhance their brand image. Many brands have followed suit, and now it’s taken for granted that any top A-list celebrity has a watch collaboration. What is relatively unusual, however, is that brands actually work with these ambassadors to create watches. Nonetheless, Breitling is doing things a little differently, and following previous collaborations with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Victoria Beckham, they have now teamed up with Norwegian soccer superstar Erling Haaland for a new meteorite dial Chronomats collection.

Haaland is one of the top strikers in the game, known for his speed, power, and devastating shots. The 24-year-old is known as “The Terminator” for his steely play and calm European demeanor. The third and final model is a special one-of-five 18K red gold B01 42, custom-engraved with Haaland’s name, jersey number and goal celebration pose. This rare model is reserved for Haaland himself and his friends and family. All three watches feature unique meteorite dials, representing Haaland’s unique and otherworldly talent. These meteorites were taken directly from the Muonio Nalusta meteorite that landed in Haaland’s hometown of Scandinavia, marking the first time that Breitling has created a watch made from meteorites.

The Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 features a 40 mm stainless steel case with a polished platinum unidirectional rotating bezel. The case is 11.77 mm thick and has comfortable proportions. The design of the stainless steel roller bracelet gives the watch an almost seamless appearance, and it can be paired with the included rubber roller strap for a sportier look. Like the other watches, the dial of the Chronomat GMT watch is unique, and the gray-silver Weidmann crystal structure adds a customized style to each watch. The dial is surrounded by a slender black GMT ring, which contrasts with the 18K red gold second hand decorated with the Haarland brand initials "EH".

Under the dial is the Breitling Calibre 32 movement, which is based on the ETA 2893-2 movement and is certified by the Swiss Official Observatory (COSC). It is equipped with an independently adjustable GMT hand and a custom-made rotor by Breitling, providing a 42-hour power reserve. Complementing its 200m water resistance is the solid caseback, engraved with the words “ERLING HAARLAND 9”, “ONE OF 500” and the footballer’s iconic goal celebration pose.
