builds.io / iEmulators and MFi

Not sure if this should be in the off-topic section...my apologies if so.

I've heard a lot about this service (especially on twitter) and I'm wondering if AfterPad would do a review and especially add the supported emulators to the MFi controller list.  I have yet to see any comprehensive reviews of the service or anything about controller support.  I'd love to see a detailed AfterPad review 😊

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Nah, it's not off-topic, though it should probably go in the Jailbreak section (even though they don't require jailbreaking).

I do make an effort to keep track of which emulators support MFi controllers. The good news is that most of the modern ones do.

Check the MFi Apps List here:

I haven`t found iuae on the list .I know it also supports MFI controllers

Thanks, I didn't know about that one! I'll add it to the list

GBA4iOS(2.1) is up and running again on the new ios software and has been for a while.  It's compatable with MFi controllers, I know it works with MAD CATZ MFi controller.

Welcome to the site!

GBA4iOS has always been one of the best emulators available. Rock solid, great MFi controller support, excellent performance. Glad to hear it's working well on the latest iOS software

I'm using RetroArch to play N64 games on my iPhone 6 plus. It hasn't been updated since the release of the ip6 but I played with the settings to make it almost full screen.

Gotta love n64 on RetroArch - plays close to perfectly!

RetroArch is under active development now, and I believe the later nightly builds fix the full screen issues with the iPhone 6 Plus. They're planning on launching the new version soon.

I can vouch for the GBA, SNES/SMD, and PSP emulators on Builds; the first two work flawlessly, while I only use the PSP emu to play Sid Meier's Pirates with buttons (I've bothered their support team pleading for MFi support to the existing app but sadly the results have been predictable so far). Oddly Pirates plays flawlessly with the Horipad, but it's sluggish with the Gamevice - the only title I can really say that about so far.

One thing to keep in mind with Builds emulators is that the yearly license is per-device. I have a mini retina which lives in my Gamevice now; I'm also going to be getting a larger tablet once they announce the new ones to use as an everyday ereader/for light work tasks/etc - if I want to add emulators to the new tablet (which I do, since I see it as my mobile gaming hub) I have to buy a whole separate license. It's only another $10 per year or so, which I'm happy to spend on app experiences as good as these - just want to let people know in case they're expecting a one-time purchase.
