Hire as private bus
Hey guys, I'm planning a trip to Spain with some friends, and I'm a bit torn on whether we should hire a bus or just get a car. We're a group of 10, so it feels like it could go either way. A bus sounds more comfortable since everyone can be together, but it also feels like overkill, especially when considering the cost. I’ve never driven a bus before either, so I’m worried about maneuvering through the narrow streets in some of the smaller towns. Does anyone have experience with this? Do you think it's better to go with a car, or is a bus really worth it?
but I’d like to add a couple of points from my experience. We did a similar trip a couple of years ago with a group of 8 people. We opted for two cars instead of a bus, and it worked out pretty well. One big advantage of going with cars is the flexibility it gives you. If some of your group wants to go sightseeing while others prefer a beach day, you can easily split up without any issues. Additionally, some of the best places we visited were in the countryside, where driving a bus would have been challenging. The roads were narrow and winding, and I’m pretty sure a bus wouldn’t have fit through some of them. On the downside, having two cars means you need two drivers at all times, and fuel costs can add up if you’re covering long distances. Also, the group is separated, which could be less fun if part of the experience for you is everyone being together. So I guess it really depends on your itinerary. If it’s mostly cities and major roads, a bus could be more enjoyable and less stressful. But if you’re venturing into the more rural areas or want flexibility in your plans, cars might be the way to go
Great question! I’ve traveled in Spain several times, both with smaller and larger groups, so I can offer some insights. For a group of 10, a private bus by 8rental can definitely be more comfortable. Everyone can relax, and you can split the driving duties if you have more than one licensed driver. Plus, there's no hassle about luggage space. However, like you said, navigating through some of those charming yet narrow streets in small towns can be tricky with a larger vehicle. If you’re planning on visiting smaller, off-the-beaten-path locations, you might find a bus more of a hindrance than a help. On the other hand, you won’t need to worry about parking multiple cars, which can be a headache in bigger cities like Madrid or Barcelona. If you go with cars, you could rent two spacious SUVs or minivans. That way, you have flexibility in terms of splitting up if necessary, and parking might be less of an issue. But if everyone wants to stay together and you plan on sticking to the highways and larger towns, a bus might be the better option
