I was a carpenter for 30+ years (straight out of high school); started before there was nailguns when you swung a hammer all day; building mostly homes and condos. The work was hard, but I found it to be quite rewarding. It was nice to finish a home and then see what has been accomplished. I still drive by homes that I helped build and take great pride in knowing I was a part of that.
