September 9th

With sources giving real details other than "Possible Apple TV Refresh," the 9th sounds like it could be quite the spectacle 😊

From what I've read, the new Apple TV will have a much needed processor and remote update, as well as support for MFi controllers and a dedicated app store.

While a dedicated app store has some benefits, I would prefer they skip needing to update your hardware every 2 - 3 years and make sure Airplay is as lag free as Windows 10 streaming Xbox One. There's some kind of Voodoo there, and it would be perfect for iOS gaming!

I just finished writing up my thoughts on it!

That's a nice list of predictions! I agree with most of it, except the refresh of the iPad Air. I think we will see an iPad Air 3 because that is what most people are familiar with.

Wouldn't surprise me if we saw a new iPad Air, but it also wouldn't surprise me to see Apple try to funnel its most demanding (and highest-paying) customers up a notch to a more expensive 12-inch model 😉

Good stuff kev,
I'll change my opinion on the CPU think it will be an A8, original prediction is over 6 months old now,
Looking forward for the new "Apple Games store" did you see the officail tweet?

@MFiGamer I saw it, but I wonder what will make it any different from the App Store "Game" section.

Event Prediction.

"The New Apple TV with MFi Controller playing Minecraft PE",

Now that would be the message i would deliver if i wanted to make an impact on the entire gaming community with my new hardware.

That's funny, I actually changed my guess! I think an A9 or A9X is more likely at this point. Apple probably wouldn't want to release new iPhones running a new chip and new Apple TVs running an older chip at the same time.
I'm definitely not confident about that guess, though. Just glad something might finally be coming!

I'm actually not sure what you guys are talking about. There's a new "Apple Games" Twitter account, but I don't see anything like a dedicated apple games store...

I think this is what they are talking about. People are speculating there will be a separate app store for games.

Huh... I don't know about that. I'm not getting that from their tweet at all.

I think it would be a good idea, though. We shall see.

If I had my way, I'd love a "premium" game store, sort of like a Greatest Hits label, maybe with only paid games and more profits going to developers. I don't see that happening any time soon, though. People at Apple don't really care about "real" gamers.
