Cletus Land (Universal) on Apple TV
I'm proud to say that my 2D platformer, Cletus Land is available on Apple TV. Shortly after I started designing Cletus Land for iOS, I found myself taking a hard look at other platform games on the iPhone and I immediately noticed that they were (understandably) limited by the screen dimensions. I wanted the world of Cletus Land to feel bigger than the screen in hopes of making it more like a classic console experience. The only way I could do that was to make the levels extend beyond the top of the screen and develop a camera algorithm to keep everything of importance in view at all times. I feel like that worked well on iPhone and iPad, but it really positioned the game well for the transition to Apple TV. Rather than feeling like an iPhone game blown-up to TV proportions, it seems like the screen it was destined for all along.
As a bonus, readying the game for Apple TV prompted me to finally do some overdue updates, the biggest of which is of course adding MFi controller support for the iPhone and iPad. As a side note, if I had skipped the SteelSeries Stratus and bought one of the later controllers, I probably would have finished adding MFi support much sooner!
