PSN Speedy MFi Controller - is that grip angle movable?
Looks like an awesome controller, and not the same horrid Playstation button layout like the other recent ones, so I'm very much interested in it. My biggest issue with these controllers however is that the grips angles aren't adjustable to how I'm viewing it at the time, so none of these recent controllers even spark my interest.
But I saw this Xbox style controller and this pic shows circular hinge like things on the grips. Anyone know if the grip on this is actually adjustable this time? If so that's an instant purchase...adjustable grip and good button/stick layout is what I'm looking for which none of the others have provided.
Hey,
It is a good controller, yeah. Feels very similar to a 360 pad, so if that's what you're used to, it'll make you happy!
Regarding the grip, I have good news and bad news. The good news is, the grip IS adjustable. The bad news is, it only adjusts to a steeper angle than the other controllers.
Personally, these grips are all too steep for my tastes, and I wish they were all angled further back. Having a grip that only folds steeper doesn't help me. But if you wanted something that angles the device at a tighter angle, the Speedy is absolutely your best choice!
Thanks for the reply 😊
That's too bad though. Sometimes however a steeper angle is good depending on the way I'm sitting or laying, but a wide range of varying angles is what I'm looking for. I'm surprised none of these controller makers have even thought about making a good adjustable grip.
Well, I do have the Madcatz and steelseries (which I don't use anymore for the button layout), so I think I'm good until a 360 style controller comes out with a good grip.
No problem 😉
The Speedy is a bit better than the C.T.R.L.i, but not enough to justify an upgrade. Wait for a better option.
I just got one and I'm very happy with it (not that I've used any others to compare to). Not being able to adjust the grip back does suck a bit though. One of the reviewers on Amazon suggested this alternate grip designed for an Xbox controller that is fully adjustable and can be clamped onto the Speedy:

I haven't ordered one (shipping to where I live is horribly expensive), but I'd definitely like to get one at some point.
Hey Flintza,
Awesome, glad you like it!
Sadly, that clip does NOT work well with the Speedy. It functions, but it's not particularly pleasant. It works excellently with the Nimbus, though, as I've covered here:

I'll give it another look though, see if there's a way it could be modified to work better! I like the Speedy a lot, but it definitely has issues with its grip.
Ah, ok. I'm glad I haven't ordered on yet 😊 Yeah if you do find any alternatives please let us know.
Thanks for a great site BTW
